Kerala Kasavu sarees are made from undyed, unbleached fine cotton. They are usually in off white, white and cream colours with gold border, worn by most of the women in Kerala. Originally, the Kerala Kasavu Set Saree comprised of two different garments. The lower garment worn along the waist was known as 'Mundu' and the upper garment worn across the shoulder and tucked below the into the Mundu was known as 'Neriyathu'. This two piece garment is also popular as 'Mundu-Set'. With changing fashion tastes and trends, 'Mundu Set' or 'Kerala Set Saree' has more or less been replaced by a Kerala Kasavu Saree with golden brocade that still retains the original look but has enhanced the attire's beauty by introducing various colours in the border as well as designs in the body.
